Photoshoot (Lightbox) – Furude Rika and Hanyuu by Wave

It’s been 6 months since I got these two figurines, and I never got round to doing a full photoshoot with them… I have used them for experimenting in my dodgy made lightbox, and the results haven’t been as great as I have been expecting. Even now, I’m finding that doing a good, plain photoshoot still hasn’t produced the kind of quality I’ve been looking for, but nevertheless, after taking hundreds of shots, here are some of the results.

I do hope to do an outdoors photoshoot and get better results sometime in the future… But time is hard to find these days.

Rika-chama~! ^.^

I still feel as though there’s a lot more I need to learn about lighting. This photoshoot mainly consists of hard-light.

Rika and Hanyuu are both modelled as seen in episode 18 of Higurashi no naku koro ni Kai, (“The Final Piece”, Part 5 of “The Festival Music Arc”) where the two are running in the lush grass fields of Hinamizawa, and they welcome Keiichi’s dad.

I tried different light angles to see what kind of results I could get…

Rika has a nice dress.

And a cute little blue bow.

Her hair looks weird as a photo from this angle…

Her feet and sandles are decorated nicely.
(The base is screwed on through Rika’s right foot)

Then I thought it was nice to get Fate and Nanoha together, and point their weapons on my camera…

Now it’s Hanyuu’s turn!

She is slightly more elaborate than Rika, and for some reason, she takes better photos than Rika does… (for me at least)

Yes, they included the crack in Hanyuu’s left Horn.

Being a huge Higurashi fan, and love Rika and Hanyuu, they were a must have for me! By the time I had the money to buy them (I mean, these two are expensive relative to other figurines of same detail) I had to find them from sources outside of official anime merchandise retailers. (eBay)

I’m uber-happy with them!!! =D

Nipaa~!

Short little ramble – Higurashi is a relatively big franchise, and frankly, I am angrily disappointed that there were no high quality figures/models of any of the characters, except for the ones produced by Wave. Also, I have to mention that I am further angered by the fact that many Higurashi figurines were… demeaning to the character! (Damn fanservice!) The series isn’t even about lolicons!!! No, I don’t want Hanyuu in a school swimsuit!!! (She never wears one anyway!!!) Or Rika “lifting up her skirt in a somewhat suggestive manner”! Why were these the only truly “respectable” figurines made for the series?! (and so expensive too?) I’d so have loved it if there were maybe Nendoroids for the series… or something by ALTER. That would have been awesome, and I’d pay a lot for them.
