So, an interesting breakfast, made up of whatever some tarts that my sister and I had bought yesterday in Surry Hills. A Strawberry and Vanilla tart, Chocolate and raspberry, Ginger Brulee and a simple lemon tart. And a slice of Coles Pecan Danish… Healthy…
Then after work, I set up the Gigaworks T3s I had bought the yesterday as well. They don’t seem to sound as awesome as I had heard them when the store I bought them from had them on display. Hence: Am currently trying to burn them in by playing varying Original Soundtracks. (both movie and anime)
Okay, so this is my… second experimental project that I wanted to do this holidays, and was… ‘completed’ on Friday last week… If memory serves… I stole a few recipies over the Internets… I mean, I do Food Tech, so… cooking food shouldn’t be a problem right? Well… I dunno… It… sorta worked…
So, on the ‘menu’:
Green Tea Custard with fruit in lemon syrup
Gyoza (Dumplings)
Okonomiyaki (Japanese Pancake)
‘Tempura’ Prawns
So, after work, and filling/handing in a few forms, my sister and I payed a trip to the City, and she showed me a bit around Surry Hills, which I can;t help but find weird… She took me to two bakeries/cafes, but main thing for me on the agenda, was what you see above.
One of my friends, Maddie, hosted a Disney Marathon yesterday/last night and watched quite a few old classics… Obviously (and sadly) not every single movie in the above photo, but what I was there for was Avat-… I mean, Pocahontas, Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Aristocats, The Little Mermaid and Mulan. And some… Baywatch Wrestling…???
*Ahem* But, it was an awesome marathon, I would have loved to have slept over and watched The Lion King at 1am… But stupid work wanted me in this morning, so I couldn’t stay…
The full guest-list was (in order of rememberance): Maddie, Leon, Thomas, Shannon, Janice, Jessica, Marcella, Micheal, Shannen, Nick, Amelia, Ethan, and I… Martin was invited, but couldn’t make it.
But Totoro was there to make up for it!
Thanks Maddie for organising the event! Legendary.
Poker at Bevan’s! It had been a while since I had played poker with everyone… Alas, I don’t really have that good poker skills anyway… It was good to see Nanoha again though.
So, about a week ago, I went to my good friend Bevan’s house specifically to see his just arrived Nanoha Takamachi figurine by Alter. (Cos he won this time… =P) And so, came a dedicated 1.5 hour photoshoot, and here are a select two dozen or so photos. Click on the images to view in a higher resolution (a.k.a. Even more awesome of Nanoha)
As the second season of K-On! (K-On!!) begins airing today, I thought it was only appropriate to ramble on a bit, about the crazy huge franchise K-On! has become, after it’s 13 episode season aired back in June, last year. It has become a HUGE franchise, and I honestly, don’t understand. This is a somewhat in-depth look, at what feats the franchise has been able to pull off, over what I call, an overrated series.
History
K-On! was originally a manga series, written and illustrated by Kakifly. and was published as a four panel comic in “Manga Time Kirara”, in may of 2007. The first volume of manga was published on April 2008. Kyoto Animation (known for producing Anime icons such as Haruhi and Lucky Star) decided to animate the manga, into a 13 series anime, airing from April to June, as part of the Spring season of 2009. Since then, the series has three volumes of manga, 13 episodes of the first season, an original video animation (Jan 20, 2010) and now, a second season, with probably another 13 episodes.
Statistics:
MyAnimeList has more than 40000 entries for K-On! and has a score of 8.13, ranking it as #268 (as of Apr 6)
Won “DVD of the year” in the TV/Anime category for 2009’s Gold Disc awards.
Won Tokyo’s Anime Fair for the Telveision Category.
Sold over 30,000 copies of Volume 1 of K-On! In blu-ray upon week of release, ranking it #2 of all blu-ray discs sold that week.
K-On!’s first volume at the time of release on DVD was the largest number sold of any anime on day of release. Outselling the first DVD of Haruhi by over 9000. (actually)
“Don’t say “lazy”” won “best theme song” category at the 14th Animation Kobe Awards.
“Don’t say “lazy”” ranked #1 single/album of all Japan upon release.
K-On’s Mio and Yui have been ranked #1 choices for “wife” throughout surveys.
Okay, so… Yes, inspired by my good friend Leon, I’d thought I’d attempt a vlog… And… well… It was sorta fun…but… ultimately, I thought it consumed a little too much time that I have, filming and editing. I almost feel as though I may have been trying too hard… And also… I’m not very good in front of a camera… So, I think I’ll leave vlogging to those who can vlog, or be bothered to vlog. Blogging is so much easier… =P
Filmed, on the date of the official release of Apple’s Magically Revolutionary Device known as the iPad. And so, this vlog is mainly about me… of course… and since it’s inspired by Leon, I had to mention Leon a few times… I played around with my newly arrived Anime merch, talked a bit about how our “Sleek Geek” video is going, as well as some random stuffs here and there… Some of my general… time wasting shenanigans…?
I’m not too sure about my result actually… do vlogs typically have a structure? I sorta just mashed it all together to see how it went… Feel free to judge me…
This truly was an experimental project, and so whether or not you’ll be seeing another one in the future is entirely up to me, and my own self-confidence… Which is still… pretty low… If you want “better quality” vlogs, just browse YouTube… They shouldn’t be that hard to find… Also, feel free to watch Leon’s vlog, which I feel is much better than mine…. Go watch him instead… and his Alfie…
My vlog has been embedded as a YouTube video below, unless if you’re viewing it on Facebook, in which I advise you click here.
Whew! Wow… Already a quarter of the way though the year! Time goes way too quickly… And these holidays, I expect to be gone before I actually know it. Even the Summer holidays went by way too quickly, that there were a lot of things that I wanted to do, but never ended up doing, because somehow, I ran out of time…? I also hope to keep a very low spendature this holidays, the lowest of all holidays so far. It should be alright this time round, as I’ll be more focused on my current projects, as well as the fact that no-one else has that much money to spend either. So, this holidays, I hope to get much more oganised, and actually DO the things I plan to do… And so, here’s what is on the agenda:
Budget hoping will be kept under – $200 (Judging by my plans, and current wants, and future wants, that budget shouldn’t be too difficult.)
Generally
Create a timetable over these holidays so I can organise myself better. (Taking work into account)
Have allocated time for Study, Anime, Tech, Projects etc.
Do serious catch up on subjects that I payed very little attention to last term.
Read book, allocated for English. (Fahrenheit 451)
Read book, Alice in Wonderland.
Learn to cook awesome-ish food. (Starting with Japanese, of course, with plans on Sushi, Tempura, and presentation)
Listen through A LOT of music that I asked Leon to dump on me.
Projects that I would like to be completed.
Create a plan for my website
Create website content
Separate my website into categories, instead of one single blog. (i.e. Anime, Life and Tech/Misc)
Complete entry for our “Sleek Geek” video
Two Experimental Projects, (one of which you may see come up tomorrow)
Clean/reorganise my room.
Create/Begin AMV of any sort. (Clannad or Ookami AMVs in Mind)
Create/Begin AMV for Umineko to Beatrice’s Character Song “Chains”
Outings
As far as I know, there aren’t actually ANY planned outing days that are set in concrete.
Is anyone planning a Poker Day?
Several trips around to friend’s places. (Highest priority: Bevan’s for his just arrived Nanoha figure)
Only ONE trip down to City. (Still variable though, as priorities change quickly)
Tea Party?
Disney Marathon?
Anime that MUST be seen/followed/completed:
Code Geass: Lelouch if the Rebellion
Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha A’s (3 eps or so to go)
Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood
My Neighbour Totoro
Summer Wars
Ouran High School Host Club
Angel Beats!
Gadgets:
Buy Netbook/Laptop (Very unlikely)
Not-needed but Anime stuff I am likely to buy.
Place pre-orders for anything I think might be uber-awesome. Highest in mind: “Puchi Nendoroids of the Nanoha cast”
A wall scroll maybe of some sort. (but shipping them is expensive)
Okay, so those are my main plans that I’m aware of at the moment. And thus, I will be very busy these holidays cooped up in my home… feeling rather anti-social… But that’s why I have Facebook and Skype right? =P Well, it shall be an interesting holidays, and I certainly hope I can have a lot of these crossed off as “Done” or “Complete”! Wish me luck eh?
