Europe Trip 11-12 – When in Rome, do as the other tourists do!

Catching up on my Europe Posts… A bit of a chore to be honest… But being there three weeks ago means it’s still somewhat fresh but clearly beginning to miss a few bits and pieces…

To think tht just three weeks ago, I had some beautifully crisp weather with an unseasonably warm 5-15 degrees depending on where I was. And just a week after leaving, it plummets and transforms the place into a winter nightmare. And it forces the closure of a number of ancient attractions…

Quay – 06.12.2011

Quay is an Australian restaurant that boasts a top “Three Hat” ranking by the “Good Food Guide” for 10 years consecutively, as well as having won “Best Restaurant” and more recently “Chef of the Year” (Peter Gilmore) down here. None of us had ever been to a “Three Hat” restaurant before, nor have we spent $250~ for a single dinner… Not many would, seeing it as ‘just food’ but for us, ‘life is food’, and so, this was quite an experience for us…
So, after three months of waiting, and quarter of a grand poorer, my sister, my old Food Tech buddy Nick, and another friend Gaby payed a trip to the “26th best restaurant in the world“.

Ahhh… School’s over and yet it isn’t… With school technically finished, all that’s left is our HSC and and then it is a few months of freedom!!! (with one month of worrying about our results…) But in that intermediary between graduation and studying for my HSC, there’s room for a little fun, and so we decided to celebrate a bit with a little trip to Ribs and Rumps at Macquarie Park, among other places, and I’ve spent some time experimenting with some photography and with a new Digital Audio Converter one of my friends bought.

We went a little too far decorating a drawing of Kyubey…)

With exams over, there were a load of birthdays to get through, futures to be planned, and just overall busyness!

Back to school today… Not the most fun day, but rarely is school ever fun.
And school… that’s now what I’m blogging about today.

My July winter holidays was an interesting mix of doing nothing, and several rather standout highlights.
For me, there was plenty of good food, money being thrown around here and there… You know, whatever an under 18 can do legally. =P

Phew… The past month has been so slow yet so long… School is such a strain and it’s holding me back from blogging… I received my half-yearly report to the dissatisfaction of my parents, (not surprised) and I really do need to pick my game for a good education if I’m to get anywhere in my future life right? But that hasn’t really stopped me from going out and about recently, which you will find, is mostly about food. =P

(What you see above is a Tuna Tataki dish from “Kushiyaki Azuma” a fairly classy Japanese Restaurant tucked away in “Regents Place” behind the George Street Cinemas in Sydney.)

Wow… It’s been a month since I last made a post… The past few weeks have been loaded with exams (which despite more than usual study, has produced results that aren’t what I could/should be getting…) but now that they’re over, it’s time for the Autumn break! (Which, I’m already quickly approaching the half-way of…)

Greenhouse by Joost – 13.03.2011

So, yesterday, my sister and I payed a visit to the temporary restaurant “Greenhouse by Joost”, a restaurant in Perth that focuses on sustainability, and minimizing waste. They’re currently doing a world tour, the first stop of which, was Sydney.

Haven’t been able to blog all that much, being very busy with school work, namely an English essay, and a lot of maths being dumped on me by my most favourite maths teacher. =D
I have a few posts in the line, but when they’ll be published is well… When I’m able to get around to them…

Yay! My local Japanese book store had Mizuki Nana’s biography “Shin Ai” in stock. 20% off too, so it only cost me $28. It’s a shame that I’m Japanese illiterate. Otherwise, I’d probably be up all night reading it… But I am watching coverage of the 8.8 magnitude earthquake that hit Japan ealier today… That’s some scary stuff.

At this moment, 5 hours after the quake, the toll is only 39. That number can only rise.
Hope everything works out for all those effected directly and indirectly.

Busy busy busy weeks… The last few days of January was a busy time for me, and the start of school marking the beginning of what is going to be an incredibly busy and stressful year.
