Daily Life – 27.04-27.05.2011

Phew… The past month has been so slow yet so long… School is such a strain and it’s holding me back from blogging… I received my half-yearly report to the dissatisfaction of my parents, (not surprised) and I really do need to pick my game for a good education if I’m to get anywhere in my future life right? But that hasn’t really stopped me from going out and about recently, which you will find, is mostly about food. =P

(What you see above is a Tuna Tataki dish from “Kushiyaki Azuma” a fairly classy Japanese Restaurant tucked away in “Regents Place” behind the George Street Cinemas in Sydney.)

Daily Life – 07.11 – 04.12.2010

November was an unusually dry month… and by dry, I mean, lacking interesting content rather than unseasonal… In fact, we’ve actually had quite a bit of rain… But yeah, so this goanna water dragon payed a visit to our school earlier in November…

Lots of study, food, birds, signs of Spring, and money spending the past week, and probably in the future too.

It’s been a modest week since my last post, as usual. Assessments and exams creeping up on me too…

Food Tech II – 13.05.2010

So, first part of my Food Tech Assignment, was to decorate a Roulade. (My result is above) If you continue reading, you can see pictures of me making a small mess of the kitchen when I practiced the recipe at home. The Ice Cream began to melt upon presentation… and it was too tall… Stupid… “Bulla Creamy Classics”… Why do you taste so good?

Food Tech I – 22.04.2010

Started the day with a good cup of coffee and a school video camera!

Did some good “Taste Testing” in Food Tech today, and is what today’s photolog will be about.
It’s part on our study of “Food Quality”

Just before Tasmania.

So, I have quite a lot to say before we leave for Tassie tomorrow. Today seemed as if it was a day of omens… Why do I say that? Well, first of all, Food Tech. So Nick you sped, not going to school today and you want to know how things went today? Well… I would just like to make this statement. Speds play a surprising role in our lives. Let me walk you through, how Food Tech went today. So, I we’re making a “cake” for Easter, and we also have to decorated it. We made our cakes today, and yes Nick, I also made yours. So, everything was going well. In fact, I’d say that I’m almost better without you Nick. Except for one little tiddy problem. So, the mixing and gathering of the ingredients wasn’t much of a problem. In fact, I’d say that my cake batter was very good, and would have made excellent cakes! I finished a tad after Ethan and Martin did, and relatively on-time with everyone else. One thing, one tiny little problem that we thought we had covered at the beginning of the lesson. We were rejoicing at the fact that this would have been a sped free lesson… however… we all learnt something today… Speds play an important role in our lives, and an important role when in Food Tech. Especially, when it comes to the operation of the oven…

So… Well… We thought we had the oven covered… Ethan turned on the main power switch, turned up the temperature… began to cook! Later on, when they were about to go in the oven, Martin placed his tray in, and said “The oven’s surprisingly cool”… Well that’s maybe because IT WASN’T EVEN ON! So Nick, you want to know how good the cake I made was? Certainly would have been very good, however, it’s only half-cooked, as they needed to be out of the oven. They were in there for 30 minutes in a non-preheated oven. Genius! So that’s Food Tech for you Nick. We will be decorating a half-cooked cake. =D

Other things happened today. I’m supposed to be packing at the moment, but I’ll get to that a little later. So, other things happen today? My shoe broke today. Just before I entered the shopping centre, my shoe broke. I ended up walking around missing almost half a shoe that was still attached to the rest of my shoe. It made a lot of noise as I was walking through. It was a sign. I should not be spending/buying things today. I ignored the sign, and began going about my indecisive ways. So as in one of my previous blog posts, I said I was going to buy a new pair of earphones. I bought them today. Sennheiser CX-300-II’s for $74… They better be good. I was looking at the CX-400 and CX-500 that supposedly have better sound quality, however I have to buy them online, and they cost $100+ and then some for postage crap. I was also looking at the Creative Aurvana’s but they were also a little more expensive. I haven’t opened my CX-300’s yet. I’m scared that I’m going to be terribly disappointed. I also will have to get used to the fact they’re in-ear…

Now, away from today, let’s see how my picks/tips went for the weekend’s round of NRL, AFL and Horse Racing eh?

I tell you what, this week was pretty good. A lot better than last week. AFL wise, I did pretty well. 6 of 7 picks. NRL… 4 of 7 so far, Hursh also managed to pick 4, although some of his picks were different to mine. So, I’m still only leading by one and there’s still Manly vs Panthers in which I chose Manly and Hush chose the Panthers. Should have bet in the Rosehill Guineas. Metal Bender won by a nose! Haha, wow… That’s surprising that he won… Anyway, back to packing!
