K-on! Sweeps all three major Saimoe Contests

Although K-on!’s season two has officially ended, it is clear that love for series hasn’t. The group from After School Tea Time has brought Kyoto Animation and the orginal creator “Kakifly” a lot of money I am sure. Their popularity is clearly evident with the amount of merchandise available, the amount of CDs and DVDs the franchise has sold, as well as winning a number of Anime related awards, and the fact that one of the largest Japanese Anime Forums has accepted “K-on! as their reason for life” as a ‘truism’, just to name a few.

And so, it comes to no surprise to me at all, that the winners for all three major Saimoe contests are from “K-on!”.
International Saimoe – Akiyama Mio def Misaka Mikoto 7175-5186
Korean Best Moe – Akiyama Mio def Tachibana Kanade 2546-2398
Japan Saimoe – Nanako Asuza def Sanzenin Nagi 1,516-1,339

I’m not going to ramble on too much because I’m kinda tired of doing so…

Looks like my predicition from the beginning of ISML was spot on for Mio. Furthermore, my (rather obvious) predictions for Shana, Asuza, Hitagi… to be in the top 16 were correct. Also predicting the falling popularity of Haruhi characters (Haruhi and Yuki were the only ones to make the top 16) as well as the falling popularity of Lucky Star. (Hiiragi Kagami the only top 16 entrant)
I’m dissapointed to see a lack of Nanoha in the top 16, and furthermore, seeing Rika-chama near the bottom of the ISML table…

Ah well… I’ve pretty much given up in voting in moe contests… I’ll just silently curse the ones I don’t like and cheer for the ones I do…

Despite for my hate for K-on!, I’s still like to pass on my Congratulations to both Mio and Asuza (or Asunyan) for completely blowing the competition and to Kyoto Animation for brainwashing hundreds and thousands of anime watches into thinking K-on! is ‘good’. XD
