Finally got around to seeing “Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha The MOVIE 1st”, the first movie of everyone’s favourite mahou-shoujo anime, in the beauty of high-definition! The movie, for those unaware, was a remake of the original first season of the Nanoha series, and is the first, of what will (hopefully) be a series of movies.
Although two of the mains, Nanoha and Fate, are two of my most favourite characters, I can’t really say that the overall original series was all that impressive. (notably, StrikerS, and I can’t really be bothered with following ViVid and Force as I haven’t finished StrikerS) When I heard about the making of the movie, I knew that I just had to watch it, and just couldn’t wait to see how the producers, Seven Arcs, would adapt the 13 episode first season, into a 2 hour movie.
(I’ll be making quite a few comparisons to the original series, so I’ll say SPOILER ALERT just in case)

My eyes feel so much better without my glasses on… Everytime I use my DSLR for long-ish periods of photo-ing, my eyes seem to hurt… And being around dogs doesn’t seem to help either.
I love a good trip to the City, and poker, and last days at school, and spending money, and recieiving packages, and taking photos of my Anime merch and such. =D

One of my friends, Maddie, hosted a Disney Marathon yesterday/last night and watched quite a few old classics… Obviously (and sadly) not every single movie in the above photo, but what I was there for was Avat-… I mean, Pocahontas, Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Aristocats, The Little Mermaid and Mulan. And some… Baywatch Wrestling…???
*Ahem* But, it was an awesome marathon, I would have loved to have slept over and watched The Lion King at 1am… But stupid work wanted me in this morning, so I couldn’t stay…
The full guest-list was (in order of rememberance): Maddie, Leon, Thomas, Shannon, Janice, Jessica, Marcella, Micheal, Shannen, Nick, Amelia, Ethan, and I… Martin was invited, but couldn’t make it.
But Totoro was there to make up for it!

Ah, “Get Smart”, an old 90’s American Comedy television series. I barely remember what it was about and what happened in the series as I was really little when I last saw it. Pretty much the only things I can remember from it, was Maxwell Smart’s phone shoe, the sliding doors to go in and out of that headquarters place and Agent 99… I don’t even remember who/what the enemy was… Although I did remember that it was a pretty good show…
Well, as most of you know, “Get Smart” was/has been adapted to a film and recently released into cinemas… The film was directed by Peter Segal, and starred, Steve Carell, as Maxwell Smart, and Anne Hathaway as Agent 99. Well, thanks to the movie, I now know that Max and 99 work for a top-secret government organisation called “CONTROL” and the enemy, who is trying to destroy/take over the world or whatever, is known as “KAOS” (Great name eh?). Supporting cast were Alan Arkin, Terence Stamp, Masi Oka (Know him from “Heroes”), Nate Torrence, Ken Davitian (Recognised him from “Borat”) and Terry Crews.
As expected, “Get Smart” was an entertaining and funny movie, although I think it was a standalone movie. I envy Maxwell’s intelligence! XD He also has awesome little gadgets like a flamethrower inside a Swiss Army Knife! He also has an amazing sense of logic! (Now, I leave it to you to decide whether all that was sarcastic or not) Unfortunately, since I don’t remember the original television series, I am unable to compare the film to the television series and decide which one was better, but nevertheless, it was still a great movie, and certainly better than “Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan” in terms of humour…
Even if you haven’t seen/don’t remember the television series, it is certainly a very good watch even if some reviews are negative and if my little review thingy doesn’t help. Although if you do remember the television series, and have watched the movie, please tell us how you found it compared to the television series via commenting. Oh, and I also recently found out that, a spin-off movie was produced – “Get Smart’s Bruce and Lloyd: Out of Control” which focuses more on Bruce (Masi Oka) and Lloyd (Nate Torrence). Events in this are concurrent, but unrelated.

Hehehehe… Well this is what I should be writing about right now for my English Assessment… I am to write a review to the documentary, “Touching the Void” (Film version). I am probably not going to get a very good mark for my review (i never really do well in English) but I thought that I may as well review it here just because it may help me write my review… Note that this is not my actual review for my English Assessment…
“Touching the Void” was originally a book written by Joe Simpson and was adapted to as a film/documentary. This documentary explores and retells the events that took place as two mountaineers climbed Siula Grande in the Peruvian Andes in 1985. The two climbers, Joe Simpson and Simon Yates, managed to climb the mountain without too much of a problem, It was getting down the mountain that was the hard part. While climbing down, Joe Simpson broke his leg after losing grip on a steep slope thingy. Simon must now help Joe, having a broken leg, get down the rest of the mountain since not all went to plan.
This documentary was very entertaining as it had accurate and very realistic re-enactments. The interviews with Joe, Simon and Richard (The person who took care of base camp while Joe and Simon climbed the mountain) added to the authenticity and the feel of this docudrama and accompanied the re-enactments perfectly. The story of survival was certainly very well told and very well dramatised. The film was nominated for 12 awards of which 5 were won (as of time of review).
Probably one of the most notable parts, is when Joe was starting to become delirious and he got the song, “Brown Girl In The Ring” (hence review title name), stuck in his head and he thought “Bloody hell… I’m gonna die to Boney M”… I found that this documentary was certainly one of the best documentaries I’ve seen and I found that there was very little bad things to be said about this film. I certainly hope I get a good mark for my English Assessment as I feel that this “Review” did not help me at all…
