My real beginning of twenty-twelve…

Back in Oz, and only experiencing the year of 2012 in Sydney almost one month after it began. Going to University this year and getting university plans set up over the past month has been quite a bit more stressful than I would have thought it was. Hopefully I’ve done everything correctly for the time being… Though apart from that, much of my time has been spent catching-up with friends and working to get my moneys back from Europe.

And of course finding opportunities to fill my cravings of decent Asian food after being in Europe for a month. Decent sushi in Europe, (or anything asian) is hard to come across from my experience, with it being rather expensive and just not very good… I really missed my seared scallop nigiri…
Never realised how much I’d miss asian-style oil-filled foods. I managed to get my ramen fix en-route in Hong Kong during my two hour stop-over. ^^

Managed to get back in time for the Chinese New Year and celebrate the Year of the Dragon with a parade along Sydney’s main street of George.

The event is big enough to close off a good portion of the city’s busiest road.

Obligatory person-taking-photo-with-tablet-device photo.

SUPERSPEED Paramedic buggy!

I don’t think this truck is legally roadworthy like this…

I’ve wondered what it’s like to be on a moving float. Sometimes you have bands and performers on them… Must be somewhat disorientating…

Dragons passing by parade-goers getting too close to the camera…

A float of each zodiac goes down the parade in order of most-recent.

Ehehehe!

The Chengdu Panda float! (Sadly no real pandas…)

SUGOI! SUGOI~!

Lots and lots of draaagggoooooonnnnnssss!!!

Then it’s across to Darling Harbour for some fire-flowers!

Haven’t had much experience with fireworks photography. Is there a trick to get long-exposures without the smoke appearing so predominately due to the long-shutter?

Back at home, just one of many Incubators distributed around the world arrived at while I was overseas… I should keep him half-buried in the packaging. =P

Other expensive-ish Japanese media arrived over the past few months. Haven’t listened to Mizuki Nana-chan’s “Synchrogazer” yet…

Have been planning to pick-up a pair of these beauties for almost a year now. When I heard they were in-stock I jumped right in to buy myself a pair because I was feeling depressed about how much money I’m probably going to spend this year after this month’s Wonder Festival’s Hobby Show announcements…

I hadn’t done some good organising in the past few months of my desk and room, and so things began to build-up and cause me to make chaotic balancing acts with my desk and surrounds… (I really hate the hutch on top of my desk. It’s supposed to create more space bit I find it’s incredibly restricting…) Need to get this cleared up before university gets to me…

Thus I’ve been making several runs to IKEAs around Sydney to check out some solutions for my clutter. The pictured one above is one of two in Sydney and is the newest and largest. Located in the suburb of Tempe, (at the foot of Sydney’s Airport runways) it’s the largest IKEA in the Southern Hemisphere… Whatever that means to you…

Meanwhile, my sister plays around with micro-glitter to create a few gifts and display pieces.

While I sight them and practice inverted-lens macro photography…

My sister also has the insane ability to spend a fair amount of time on rather intricate present wrapping techniques… Think I’ll get her to wrap some of the presents I’ll need to give in the future as long as she’s around. =P

Anyhows, my first real university experience begins tomorrow with my first lecture. Excited and nervous at the same time. Also disappointed I have to start studying again… But eh, the Bachelor of Economics course I’m attempting is only three years so should be an experience! =)
