Hahaha! Yeast is awesome! Two days ago, I was using yeast for the first time to make a bun-bread-thingy. Yeast is required to grow, in order to get a dough to rise. After 1 hour of letting it grow, the dough had doubled in size! It was so cool! It was all soft, and light, and feathery! It was like a kookaburra! Then, when you punch the dough, it shrinks! Back to it’s original size! Then you knead it again and it’s so soft and fluffy! Then, when it was time to go in the oven, I used a standard cake pan, and placed the dough in the pan, it the dough filled about 3/4 of the pan. When it came out of the oven, it grew even more! It was about twice the depth of the pan itself, and almost touched the irons that heat the oven! Luckily it didn’t burn, but it was just so awesomeness!
It is so hard to find a second hand bookstore in Sydney CBD, let alone one that sells Japanese dictionaries! I’ve been spending a few days in the city searching for a second hand book store and so far I have only found one. Which is on George Street, and it has a large collection of second hand books, it also has quite a few language dictionaries BUT NO JAPANESE DICTIONARIES! GAH! Well, hopefully I’ll run into one soon enough, although my trips to the city haven’t all be useless! GAH! I WANT THOSE DIE-CAST MODEL AIRCAFT! They cost over $40 each! Hobbyco in the Queen Victoria Building has a whole collection of model aircraft that I want! They even have the Airbus A380 in it’s testing livery! (that ugly “just out of the factory” green…) Although I’m probably never going to buy any of them, trying to find a Japanese dictionary first…
Oh, and coconut milk, with this sugary syrup in shaved ice tastes awesome! It’s this really sweet and coconutty flavour that makes it so yummy! It’s unfortunate that the syrup and milk flow through the ice fairly quickly, and so that sweetness just ends up in the milk below the ice and so the ice isn’t anything special anymore. Is it classified as a dessert or a drink? Or both? But still, it’s awesomeness and when I go to the city tomorrow, I’m probably going to get me another one of those! Although it’s not as awesome as the yeast though…
It’s amazing/weird at what I get excited about huh?
