So, about a week ago, I went to my good friend Bevan’s house specifically to see his just arrived Nanoha Takamachi figurine by Alter. (Cos he won this time… =P) And so, came a dedicated 1.5 hour photoshoot, and here are a select two dozen or so photos. Click on the images to view in a higher resolution (a.k.a. Even more awesome of Nanoha)
I was shocked to find that Bevan doesn’t have any lamps! I mean seriously, how can one get good photos of his figurine without good lighting?!? Luckily, I brought one of my own lamps from home just for the occasion, as well as a second lightbulb in case he did have a lamp that didn’t have the correct colour light.
I love Nanoha’s outfit. Especially the white dress, and how it “floats” in this figurine.
I would have much preferred a second lamp, (or a third). There are some minor photoshop adjustments with the levels (which may or may not be obvious to you), and so I had to make do with the only lamp I had
The figurine has an awesome base which I’m super envious of. The base, and Raising Heart would have been the main reasons for me to get it.
The figurine is very well detailed, (hence the large bill for it) but it’d be so worth it!
Nanoha with Raising Heart in Shooter Mode.
You actually have to change her hand in order for her to hold Raising Heart, but it’s done with relative ease, as Bevan had shown me.
Nanoha in a seemingly unforgiving mood… Don’t mess with the white devil!
As I was only dealing with one lamp, I thought I’d try and get some better lighting by taking her outside, with Bevan’s permission of course. Personally, I thought I had some nice results. These images have a lot more level editing than the indoor ones. (some more obvious than others) The sun was well up by this time, rather close to mid-day too. As a result, I wasn’t able to get the best lighting angles, (the sun was too high up, should have done some photos earlier) as well as many of the images where the sun was in the background, turned out rather noisy.
Bevan’s house actually has a sort of nice backdrop (except for the clothes-line that kept on getting in the way)
DIVINE SHOOTER!!!
She has nice boots… Also, if this really is 1/7 scale, she has some HUGE feet… (or a giant boot) I also like the axle fins. =D
Very low angle shot this was, but I was able to get the sun shining into Raising Heart. =)
The shot below is pretty noisy. I think it’s because I don’t know how to use a camera, or it’s just my camera’s capabilities. I’m using a Canon Powershot SX 200 IS on auto-focus as I don’t know how to use the manual settings on the camera, or even if they’ll do any good. I do plan on getting a nice big ol’ DSLR, but that won’t be till later.
It’s still pretty epic.
Pretty white dress… =)
Nanoha in all her awesome-ness!
So, that ends my first photoshoot, hope you enjoyed it! There’s still quite a bit of learning I need to do in terms of using a camera, and once I get myself a DSLR.
I’d love it if either of us has Fate in Exceeded Mode… That would be epic. But meanwhile… I think we are both satisfied with Bevan’s own Stand-by ready figurine of Nanoha. Which dwarfs my Nanoha Nendoroid and Figmas… (Which I’m yet to photoshoot =P)
